  • two translu­cent mir­rors;
  • ad­he­sive pads.

Step-by-step in­struc­tions

Glue an LED strip to a star-shaped frame and at­tach translu­cent mir­rors to the frame with ad­he­sive pads. Turn on the LEDs and bask in their beau­ty!

Sci­en­tif­ic de­scrip­tion

A semi-trans­par­ent mir­ror lets in some light and re­flects the rest. The light from the LEDs in­side the por­tal is re­flect­ed in the mir­rors mul­ti­ple times, and each re­flec­tion is slight­ly off­set from the pre­vi­ous one – this cre­ates the il­lu­sion of depth in the im­age!
