Reagents and equip­ment:

  • lemon;
  • bak­ing soda;
  • sug­ar;
  • glass;
  • wa­ter.

Step-by-step in­struc­tions

Sprin­kle a tea­spoon of bak­ing soda into a glass, add sug­ar to taste, squeeze a lemon into the con­coc­tion, and add wa­ter. The soda is ready!

Pro­cess­es de­scrip­tion

Lemon juice con­tains a num­ber of acids, most­ly cit­ric acid. These acids re­act with bak­ing soda to form car­bon diox­ide. As car­bon diox­ide dis­solves poor­ly in wa­ter, it is grad­u­al­ly re­leased in the form of bub­bles, mak­ing the drink fizzy.
