Calcium gluconate

C₁₂H₂₂CaO₁₄ – calcium gluconate – is a white, powdery, water-soluble salt. It is a mineral supplement and medication. Doctors may prescribe a course of calcium gluconate tablets to combat a calcium deficiency in the blood. Calcium plays an important role in the body: it is necessary for cells, muscles, and bones to function. Ca²⁺ is also involved in the mechanism of signal formation and transmission through nerve cells.
