ZnSO4 – zinc sulfate – is a powder consisting of transparent, colorless crystals. It is odorless, but has a sharp, astringent taste. It is historically known as “white vitriol.” Zinc sulfate is prescribed to treat various inflammatory diseases and zinc deficiency. Zinc sulfate, as a source of the chemical elements sulfur and zinc, is also a popular fertilizer. Moreover, it can be given to livestock as a mineral supplement.
