Scientific description

In fact, there’s no need for a magic spell – the main magician here is Science! The hydrogen atoms in lithium aluminium hydride are highly unstable. If water or acid are added, the whole compound will decompose, releasing hydrogen gas. But it will also react rapidly with oxygen if heated sufficiently! This is because oxygen molecules react extremely rapidly with LAH, releasing a lot of heat. This summons a small fiery pillar that looks like something straight out of a fantasy novel!
