Chemistry - Filtration

Prepare in advance

In this lesson, we will conduct "Homemade filter" DIY experiments. Prepare in advance household materials shown below.

DIY Materials

  2x empty plastic bottle (ideally 1ltr)
  cotton wool (handful)
  clean sand (handful)
  small round pebbles or marbles (1-2 cm in diameter), optional
  BBQ or active charcoal powder (crush and sieve in advance!)
  plastic funnel
  coffee filter paper or kitchen towel 2-3 pcs
  2x teabag
  coffee powder (not instant!), optional
  mud, 1-2 tablespoons
  pot with water
  hot tap water
  tablespoon
  3x glass
  scissors
