Pure tin(II) chloride SnCl2 is a white, odorless, crystalline powder. Tin(II) chloride is used as a food additive in such products as soup, jelly, ice cream, meringue, cream, milk, and yogurt. It ensures the uniformity of mixtures of substances that don’t mix with each other naturally, such as oil, fat, and water. SnCl2 is also used to make silvered mirrors and to color textiles.
