Warning! Only under adult supervision.

Reagents and equipment

  • disposable cups;
  • baking soda;
  • vinegar;
  • food colorings.

Step-by-step instructions

Add various food colorings to some cups of baking soda. Then pour some vinegar into each cup. Watch as the mixtures erupt in an explosion of color!

Process description

Baking soda reacts with vinegar, resulting in the formation of carbon dioxide. The gas is released so rapidly that the mixture residues foam up and burst out of the cups, resembling a series of volcanic eruptions! The food colorings make the foam even more beautiful!
