How to color flowers at home

Making multicolored bouquet using markers

Want to color some flowers your own way? We’ll show you how! :)

Safety precautions

Attention! Dyes can leave marks on skin and clothes.

Reagents and equipment

  • glasses;
  • felt-tip markers;
  • water;
  • white flowers.

Step-by-step instructions

Use some water to wash the dye from the markers. Put some flowers in the colored water. Over time, the petals will change colors!

Process description

As water evaporates from the surface of the leaves and petals, it creates suction in the stem. This force pulls the water, along with molecules of dye, up through the stem. As the white petals don’t have their own tint, the dye in them becomes clearly visible over time.
