How to cool a drink with salt
Warning! Under adult supervision only.
- glass container;
- crushed ice;
Mix crushed ice and salt in a glass container. Place your drink in the “ice bath” and observe its quick cooling!
Cooling mixtures are systems of two or more substances, the mixing of which leads to the absorption of heat accompanied by a temperature decrease. The process in which heat is absorbed from the environment is called an endothermic process. A 3:1 cooling mixture of ice and salt can get down to a temperature of about -21°C. To do this, it is best to use finely ground ice and salt to increase surface contact.
