Al – aluminum – is a silvery-white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. It is the most abundant metal in the earth's crust and the third most abundant element after oxygen and silicon. When aluminum was obtained for the first time in 1825, however, it was more expensive than gold! Nowadays, aluminum had become a part of everyday life and an essential component in housewares. Aluminum and its alloys are widely used in almost all engineering industries: automobile, aviation, space, and shipbuilding. It is used to make motors, blocks, cylinder heads, gearboxes, pumps, and other parts. Moreover, aluminum packaging accompanies us everywhere in our lives – in soda cans, packaging foil, medicines, and so on.
