In this STEAMfest DIY science with MEL Science lesson your children will:

To complete the DIY experiments you will need the following equipment:

  • Safety glasses
  • Baking soda (700 g)
  • Citric acid (200 g)
  • Table salt
  • Distilled vinegar (1 L)
  • Water (2 L)
  • Red food dye
  • Bubble blowing kit
  • Large super absorbent nappy / diaper
  • Container of thick transparent hair gel
  • Large measuring jug (2 - 5 L)
  • Small measuring jug (100 – 500 mL)
  • (Ideally) plastic fish tank or deep glass / plastic bowl
  • Plastic washing up bowl
  • Small plate
  • Teaspoon
  • Wooden spoon
  • Sieve
  • Scissors
  • Long safety matches
